Yala Peak Climbing

Yala Peak (5732m) is one of the easier peaks of Nepal lying just to the north of Kathmandu in the beautiful Langtang valley region. It has unparallel natural beauty with combination of cultural riches. Langtang region has over seventy glaciers of different sizes, the Langtang and Ganesh Himal mountain ranges, and high – altitude lakes including Gosainkunda, Parvatikunda, Bhairavkunda, and Dudhkunda. The Tibetan origin Tamang community are the dominant class of the area. Their culture goes back to hundreds of years. The traditionally built stone houses, beautifully carved wooden porches, their unique dress and the craftsmanship reflect their rich Himalayan heritage. Extending in an east-west direction, the region was previously a restricted area. Situated about 30 km towards the north of Kathmandu is dominated by Langtang Lirung (7,245m), the highest peak in the area. While heading towards Yala Peak, one can have stunning views of Lantang Lirung (7246m), Lenpo Gang 7083m), Dorje Lakpa (6990m) and mighty Shishapangma (8027m) in Tibetan side. The base camp of Yala Peak is situated at Kyangjin Gompa (3749m/12300 ft), while its high camp is situated at 4800 meters from where we make our summit bid. The last 400 m is on ice so we will be using crampons, ice axe and rope for our comfort. After the climb we return to Dhunche via Syabrubesi and drive to Kathmandu.
