Chitwan Jungle Safari Tour

Chitwan national park is situated 162km south of Katmandu in the lowlands of the inner Terai. Covering an area of 932sq km, the park includes hilly areas of covered by deciduous sal forest. One fifth of the park is made up of the floodplains of Narayani, Rapti, and is covered by dense elephant grass interspersed with riverine forests of silk, cotton, acacia and sisam trees. This ecologically diverse area is a heaven of a wide variety of flora and fauna.

This is the last remaining home in Nepal for the Asian One-horned Rhino, Royal Bengal Tiger, leopard, varieties of deer, sloth, Rhexus monkey, wild boar, jackals, civets, mongooses, cats and snakes. The rivers and lakes are home to crocodiles and the extraordinary Gangetic dolphin. Chitwan is also a bird watcher’s delight with more than four hundred migrant and local species birds recorded. There are cormorants, herons, egrets, storks, cranes, ducks, woodpeckers, hawks, ospreys, falcons, kestrel, parakeets, ibises, kites, cuckoos, kingfishers, swallows, orioles and many others.

Activities
Jungle walk: Jungle walk: You get the best animal sightings on foot at your own pace. You will be able to appreciate the smaller attractions of the jungle with our naturalists. Usually it is easy to see animals such as rhino, deer and sloths as these animals prefer to live in less disturbed areas of the park. Atop an elephant is the safest and most convenient way to get around in the jungle and observe the diversity of wild life.

Canoe trip:
A float down the river by dugout canoe is the best way to see crocodiles basking on the riverbank. It is also a relaxing way to watch birds and wildlife species that frequently come to bathe and drink.

Jeep drive:
A jeep drive is the fastest way to visit a wide area of the park. A 4-hour drive of some 45km in the park offers a good chance of seeing some big game.

Bird watching:
Chitwan national park is known as a paradise for birds and birdwatcher. Chitwan Valley records over 450 species of birds. The eagle eyes of our naturalist will point out some of the migratory and globally threatened birds.

Tharu village walks:
The Tharu are a tribe of Chitwan. Tharu houses are made of mud and dung plastered over wood and reed frames. Their traditional culture is still strong in Terai. Local naturalists can take you to their village and describe their lifestyle and culture.

Culture dance (stick dance):
Chitwan is the region where many ethnic groups are met and their own culture and customs are still alive. Folk musical tradition varies among Nepal's many ethnic groups. We will show you different type of dance what is make you real venture of travel.

Itinerary Details

Days 1:

On your arrival at bus park/airport you will be received by our staff. You will be transferred to our Resort where you will be offered refreshments & be given a briefing on our Resort & its facilities. After being given your programmes far the day, your room will then be allocated to you.

13:00 - Lunch.
15:00 - Elephant briefing & bathing.
16:00 - Elephant safari. An excellent opportunity to see four different kinds of deer rhinoceros, or, monkeys, leopard sloth bear, and the Royal Bengal Tiger (if you are lucky). You will also encounter many other smaller mammals that have made Chitwan their home.
19:00 - Tharu cultural dance presentation (which you can also participate in) by the local on almost everything under the Chitwan sun.
20:00 - Dinner.

Days 2:
05:30 - Wake up call.
06:00 - Tea/coffee. Followed by nature walk. An excellent opportunity to see a great many of those 524 different species of birds found in Chitwan.
07:30 - Breakfast.
09:00 - Canoe ride along the Rapti river. An excellent opportunity far bird watching and for seeing the 2 rare species of crocodiles; the Marsh Mugger and the fish eating Gharial.
10:00 - Visit to the Government Elephant Breeding Centre. Walk/drive back through the Tharu villages to our Resort where you can take a leisurely swim or relax by the poolside. You can also spend the time before lunch to gaze at the fishes found in Chitwan in your own fish pond or play a game of tennis or billiards with your friends or just spend a few quiet moments in our library with a book. You can even let your children play by themselves in our children‘s playground. Your choices are limitless.
13:00 - Lunch.
15:00 - Visit to the National Park Visitor's centre where you can learn more about the history of the National Park and about wildlife.
16:00 - Village tour to a nearby ethnic Tharu village where you will learn more about the lifestyles of the Tharus.
19:00 - Tharu cultural dance presentation or a slide show presentation.
Days 3:
05:30 - Wake up call. Tea/coffee followed by elephant safari, nature walk or you can just spend the morning as you prefer.
07:30 - Break fast.
Days 4:

Arrivel in Kathmandu and Sightseeing in Kathmandu valley and in the evening join farewell dinner.

Days 5:
Finally, Transfer to airport flight back to your own destination
